At Backyard Burque Farms, LLC, we specialize in creating food forests and edible landscapes that bring beauty, sustainability, and functionality to outdoor spaces. This business was born from a blend of my personal and professional experiences, including my decade-plus career as a Nurse Practitioner and my passion for permaculture and community wellness. Throughout my career in healthcare, my travels, and public health research, I’ve seen the profound connection between a healthy environment and healthy people, inspiring me to create landscapes that not only nourish the earth but also provide fresh, organic food for families with minimal effort.

My journey as a healthcare professional has taught me the importance of thoughtful planning, individualized care, and long-term solutions—values that also guide my approach to landscaping. At Backyard Burque Farms, every design is rooted in the principles of permaculture, blending natural ecosystems with practical, edible solutions. From detailed property assessments to providing clients with a rich resource manual and ongoing support, my goal is to empower others to cultivate their own sustainable spaces.

This work is also my way of addressing two of today’s greatest challenges: climate change and the pandemic of preventable disease. By replacing traditional lawns with biodiverse, carbon-sequestering landscapes, I aim to combat environmental degradation and create ecosystems that work in harmony with nature. At the same time, these spaces promote access to fresh, nutrient-rich food, helping families take control of their health and reduce reliance on processed, unhealthy diets. Whether working with patients or designing a food forest, my mission remains the same: to plant seeds of growth, resilience, and positive change for both people and the planet.
